Wedding trends and saving in 2010

In these tough economic times, many couples are still keeping a very close eye on their wedding budgets. When predicting the wedding trends for the year that has just began is is obvious that economy‘s impact is still going to be strong.

More people now realize that getting married at home isn’t always cheaper and go for a destination wedding. The number of your guests can then all of a sudden go down from 250 to 80, which does make a difference and frankly – you then know you only have your best friends and family around you and actually can talk to everyone :-). Also, many couples are shortening their wedding planning process now and in many situations this means a saving also. You can react and take the opportunity of the seasonal last minute special offers that are valid for only certain period of time, save money on pre-wedding visits if you are getting married abroad and frankly – the more time you have in your hands, the more things you will want to add to your wedding and to your budget :-). Elopement weddings are getting more popular recently due to the economical crises also. More and more couples leave the stress and families behind and enjoy their wedding day and budget to the fullest abroad. Elope and then just have a party at home – everyone is going to be happy to see your wedding photos from a land far away :-). Getting down to the practical things when already planning the wedding - there are so many cliches about what poor brides have to have in their wedding. Don’t let yourself being forced and for example don’t feel like you have to provide your Bridesmaids with matching designer dresses. Just let them know the colour and let them choose and buy their own dress. Believe it – they might even appreciate it ;-). Don’t be afraid to be different and ask yourself – “have I actually ever eaten a wedding cake at a wedding”? Don’t spend big money on a wedding cake no one is going to eat and just order a delicious chocolate fountain! What ever you do, just remember the wedding is about you and for you.
