Chateau Troja
The early Baroque chateau was built in 1679. This venue is a grandiose 17th century affair, complete with French gardens, Baroque sculptures, splendid vaulted ceilings and a wonderfully detailed mural in its Grand Hall. Maintained by the National Gallery, it shows a permanent exposition from its collections here - Czech painting from the 19th century - which is continuously complemented with temporary exhibitions.A highlight of the building is the sculptural decoration of the double-flight stairs leading to the garden. The monumental sculptures decorating the stairs represent the fight of Titans and ancient gods and were finished in 1685. Each sculpture on the perimeter of the stairs represents an ancient god, daytime, season and continent allegories. The whole setting of this Prague Chateau makes a fascinating backdrop to a very special wedding celebration.
Please note that this venue cannot be heated in winter; therefore the wedding celebrations can take place only during the spring/ summer months.
